Terri’s Life

Miscellaneous

At first glance into the case surrounding Terri and her families fight for her life, I felt for them, and really wished they could find a way for her to live. As time went on and I thought about it more, it’s time for them to accept that she is beyond recovery and them forcing her to remain ‘alive’ is cruel and unusual.

Imagine yourself in Terri’s shoes. In the heat of the moment during a heart wrenching news story, you tell your spouse you want them to pull the plug if you befall the same fate, yet you don’t ‘write it down’. Suddenly, weeks/months/years later you are the victim of a tragic accident, and your spouse tries to pull the plug and your family (who has no clue of your wish to die) steps in to keep you ‘alive’ because they can’t stand to see you go. Imagine and think for a moment and MAYBE you can see a glimpse into the other side of the story.

She has been described to us by the people on the ‘life’ side of the discussion as being in a coma, but if you ask a medical professional, she is in what they call a persistent vegetative state. No one has ever recovered from being in a persistent vegetative state. It is not a ‘brain damage’ as would be in a coma, instead persistent vegetative state is classified under ‘brain death’. She is only being kept alive to make a point, and that, is wrong.

Her husband MAY have ulterior motives but I personally have no way to prove these. He may also be a complete scum bag for fathering 2 children by another woman while his real wife lay in a vegetative state, but who am I to judge, his time will come.

By keeping her alive in her PERMANANT state you are committing her to a sentence FAR WORSE than death… she is being imprisoned in her own body, unable to reach the outside world. Let her out.

How many of you can honestly say that you would like to be kept alive, for 20, 40, 50 years or more like this? If you wouldn’t want this for yourself, why do so many of you work so hard to force this reality on Terri Schiavo? Oh .. I forgot. You’re pro-life.

Recently, Sean Hannity had a doctor hired by Terri’s Parents on his show to discuss Terri’s condition. Dr. Hammensfahr says that Terri Schiavo could possibly walk again.

In court Hammensfahr testified that he felt that he was able to get Terri Schiavo to repeatedly respond to his command. When the judge was present Hammensfahr gave 105 commands to Schiavo. Then her Father, Bob Schindler gave another 6 commands.

Hammensfahr asked Terri 72 questions. The judge observed the entire procedure and said that he “saw few actions that could be considered responsive to either those commands or those questions.” Over 180 questions and commands, and all they could find were “a few actions” that COULD be construed as a response.

A second doctor, Dr. Maxfield, testified that a patient in a persistent vegetative state will, from time to time, track a moving object with their eyes and that smiling can be nothing more than a automatic reflex to some sort of stimulus. Newborn babies will smile for no known reason, doesn’t mean they comprehend the action.

Photo ID for Voting…

Government, Lefties

Finally a good idea for voter fraud prevention and guess who doesn’t like it, the Democrats. Georgia is working on trying to develop a new way to prove you are who you say you are at the polls. Their brilliant idea? Photo Identification.

During a recent general assembly the idea was brought to the table and in what can only be called a melodramatic overreaction, the Democrats stomped out of the House like a petulant child who’s mother told him he needs to eat his veggies.

Under current law, established by the Democrats when they were in charge of the Georgia House, you can use just about anything you can dig up, to claim you are who you say you are. Sen. John Wiles says it best, “a notice of arraignment for your felony charge of voter fraud would be sufficient proof, since it is on the list of valid evidence” of identity: “A government document, or a legible copy thereof, showing the name and address of the elector.”

The primary objection to the bill by the Democrats is that a Photo ID may intimidate some minority voters. Why would that intimidate them, you have to show ID to buy Cigarettes, rent a movie, use your Credit Card, etc. How is voting any scarier than that?

With election results being decided by several thousand votes, we can’t have people bringing in a laundry receipt or a scrap of paper and just ‘claiming’ that they’re the same person, we need PROOF. What’s the problem, is fixing voter fraud going to nullify some of the tried and true Democratic strategies used in the past? If so, good, it’s about time.

Churhill keeps getting creepier

Lefties

Late last summer Ward Churchill sent a letter to the mother of his late wife, Leah Kelly. The letter has now been turned into investigators looking into Churchill’s activities.

In the letter he claims that a German woman named Marta Kline has been harassing his family with questions about Leah’s death. He claims she is accusing him with having some hand in his late Wives death.

Some Quotes from his letter include fairly suggestive intent.

“So, here’s what I’m going to do,” he wrote. “I’m going to have a couple of my German connections pay a visit to this Marta Kline and get things straightened out (let’s just say that her little telephone campaign is coming to an abrupt halt, and that I should have done this long ago)”

“If there’s any evidence at all that Kline is in possession of anything resembling an official document from Boulder County, then I’m holding Rhonda Kelly equally responsible for what’s been happening to my family.

“Especially my mother.

“Where that leads, I’ll decide later. But it won’t be pretty.”

Rhonda Kelly said she felt it was important for investigators to see the letter.

“I’ve been threatened, both verbally and in writing, by Churchill, that if I say anything I’m going to be sued,” she said. “But this is the first opportunity I’ve had where people are going to listen. The opportunity arose, and so I’m taking advantage of it.”

Media dislikes Bush?

Media Bias

In a study by a press watchdog that is affiliated with Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, said that the media coverage of Bush and Kerry was heavily biased towards Kerry. According to the report approximately 36% of stories about Bush were negative compared to 12% that were Negative about Kerry.

The study examined 16 newspapers of varying sizes ,nightly newscasts, three network morning news shows, nine cable programs and nine Web sites to examine a cross section of opinions expressed about the candidates.

Seems to me this high and mighty media we have in this country thinks that they have the power to swing political trends. Well Nov. 2004 was proof that America has turned elsewhere for their news.

The study noted a huge rise in audiences for Internet news, particularly for bloggers whose readers jumped by 58 percent in six months to 32 million people.

ACLU vs. BSA

Education, Lefties

The ACLU is up to it’s normal tactics of Suing the pants off of anything REMOTELY decent in this world. They have threatened lawsuits against all public school systems that currently house the Boy Scouts of America, on the grounds that they are violating seperation of church and state because they mention God in their pledge and many awards.

In a premptive strike to avoid these frivilous lawsuits, the Boy Scouts have pulled the charters from thousands of Troops based in public schools. This has struck a personal chord with me, I am an Eagle Scout and Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow, and I can tell you that the Boy Scouts of America is HARDLY the evil organization the ACLU paints them to be.

The use of a public school facility is in NO way, an affirmation by that district, that they are pushing christian ideals and morals. They are simply allowing an organization that teaches good will and charity to our youth, a place to convene.

The main argument on the ACLU’s case is basically that the organization mentions God. Heaven forbid a private organization do something that promotes such a positive image. But then what do you expect from a group that has had the BSA in it’s sights for 25 years.
