Air America Probed after OnAir Skit

The Feds are looking into a radio broadcast by Randi Rhodes on Air America where “gunshot warnings” were aimed at President Bush.

“A spoiled child is telling us our Social Security isn’t safe anymore, so he is going to fix it for us. Well, here’s your answer, you ungrateful whelp: [audio sound of four gunshots being fired.] Just try it, you little bastard. [audio of gun being cocked].”

The On Air bit was followed by Randi joking about the segment and some laughter.

According to the Government:

“Even joking about shooting the president is a crime, let alone doing it on national radio … we are taking this very seriously.”

According to Air America:

“We are not under investigation from the Secret Service,” president of programming Jon Sinton said. “We regret that a produced comedy bit that was in bad taste slipped through our normal vetting process. We do acknowledge that it was an internal error and internal discipline will be enforced.”

Personally I hope she is handed her walking papers and told never to come back. Being that it’s a Liberal talk station and that things of this nature are not beyond them to attempt, I am doubting anything beyond a stern eyebrow raise will occur.
