Judge: Parents can’t teach pagan beliefs
According to a Marion County Judge, a Father and his Ex-Wife are now forbidden from exposing their child to “non-mainstream religious beliefs and rituals.”, due to the fact that the parents practice Wicca.
The judges ruling is based on the fact that the 9-year old boy attends private school of the Catholic denomination and it would cause the boy a great deal of confusion. According to the ICLU (Indiana Civil Liberties Union), the judge’s order tramples on the parents’ constitutional right to expose their son to a religion of their choice.
I guess the Judge forgot his “pocket constitution” that day, because as far as I can tell:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
meant that Wicca, no matter how much you dislike or disagree with the practices, you cannot ban someone from practicing or being influenced by it.

Yes, it goes both ways.
Religion any religion cannot be forced on anyone and you can’t stop anyone from believing…

I agree – the judge was totally out of line with that ruling.
I would like to know what Catholic school the child is attending, as I think it would be appropriate for the head of the school to call the parents in for a chat.
