Thought Police
Well it looks as though the ACLU is moving on from stopping actual prayer in school, to stopping the thought of praying in school. So you better hope you never get busted for thinking about praying.
A month ago, the ACLU threatened to sue Keystone School Board of Clarion County, Pa. to stop prayers at board meetings and graduation. The School Board bent under the pressure and canceled the prayers. All is fine and dandy correct? WRONG. The ACLU is suing them anyway based on the assumption that claiming community members were hoping the prayer would take place despite the ban.
Ok so let me get this straight, the ACLU has a way to get PROOF that you were thinking about praying? I’d like to know how this is going to stand up in court.
People, you have GOT to be kidding me. There is nothing in the Constitution that should allow the ACLU to be doing any of this. The Constitution simply states that the government (State and National) cannot deny the practice of or endorse any religion as the National Religion, it does not say anywhere that we are to sever 100% of our ties with religion.

When is the ACLU going to stop? Does anyone else think this is absolutely absurd? This is a definite threat to our country as we know it. Isn’t there anything we can do to fight back against the ACLU?

You want Religion to be taught in school. Religious teachings and Biblical passages are interpreted differently from one person or one church to another. A very dedicated Christian may use their relationship with God to understand that they have dominance over the animals therefore hunting is an acceptable practice, others may see hunting as cruel based on the same religious beliefs. I feel that a childs religious studies should be done in the presence of their family and church. That will ensure there is no confusion.

I didn’t say I wanted a “religion” class, but if you’re going to exclude one from class teachings, exclude them all.
We had some schools here in Oklahoma that wanted to have a class that actually required memorization of verses from the Koran, as well as lessons on how to dress etc.
You have children sent home for wearing crosses as jewelry or on t-shirts, yet we’re allowing children to wear the symbols of their muslim faith for fear of being sued for religious discrimination.
While I may not want to have the “Christian Faith” preached in a classroom, don’t you find it a BIT odd that “The Religion of Peace” (bent on being THE only religion), is being protected in our schools and work places, while we’re all but crapping on Christianity.

The ACLU is nuts. The organization as a whole does a lot of good but a lot of bad too. They need to clean out the communuts as bad as the right, no offense, needs to clean out the wingnuts. Cheers!

I’m not sure the source on this, but I have heard that in “holiday pageants” at some public schools, they MUST sing Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and other religious songs, but Christian Christmas carols are VERBOTEN. (You can sing about Santa Claus, but anything mentioning Jesus’ birth is out).
Have you heard about this?
