Unhinged by hypocracy

Lefties

Senator Dick Durbin from Illinois uttered these infamous words on June 14th:

If I read this to you and did not tell you that it was an FBI agent describing what Americans had done to prisoners in their control, you would most certainly believe this must have been done by Nazis, Soviets in their gulags, or some mad regime–Pol Pot or others–that had no concern for human beings. Sadly, that is not the case. This was the action of Americans in the treatment of their prisoners.

Following these statements, there were cries for an apology from all corners of this country. That was all we wanted, an APOLOGY. We got something out of him (although I wouldn’t call it a true apology). Since then, the noise has died down and the topic has become a slight hum, brought up on occasion. Please note that not once during this whole ordeal, did Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi or any of the other Democratic Superheros jump up and say Durbin was out of line.

Jump forward a short while to a speech given by the Democrats favorite punching bag Karl Rove to the Conservative Party of New York. Rove makes a comparison of the traditional appeasement attitude of the left in congress after 9/11 to the usual brute force tactics of the right wing.

You could literally hear the steam coming from the ears on the left after catching wind of this statement.

Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 in the attacks and prepared for war; liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers.

The recently silent attack dogs from the left came out of hiding and in classic style, aren’t asking for an apology, they want an all out resignation from Rove.

Nancy Pelosi, the House Minority Leader said that Republican charges that Democrats were undermining the war on terror with their criticism of administration policies amounted to an act of desperation. Well isn’t that special, claiming that the left is weak somehow undermines the war on terror, yet sympathizing with terror captives and aligning our troops and military officials with the worst wartime sub-human scum is fine and dandy.

Keep in mind that TV Networks far and wide in Iraq are broadcasting Dick Dubbin’s statement non-stop in an effort to boost morale for the insurgency. If you stop to look, who REALLY put our troops in more danger by opening their mouth?

Here’s a clue:

I’m forced to agree with most liberals on this James. I don’t see why it is so awful when Dean or Durbin or whoever uses rhetoric (though I DO NOT condone it) but when Rove or Bush does it it’s acceptable. Rhetoric from leaders is wrong in any case. It’s different for a civilian to have their opinions but a Senator, Party Leader and a President and his staff should be above cheap shots like this. There is a definite double standard here on both sides but the red side seems a bit more extreme.

Joseph, you’re right, there’s nothing inherently wrong with either side using rhetoric.

However, what has been happening in this instance is a huge double standard.

First, Durbin says that the soldiers of the United States are Nazis.

Then, Rove says that the democrats were wimps after 9/11, wanting to appease everyone instead of take action.

    Do you see the difference?

“There is a definite double standard here on both sides but the red side seems a bit more extreme.”

How is that so? Durbin crossed the line and we demanded an apology, yet when Rove crosses the line he is told, not asked, to resign?

How is that extreme on the Right?

No one else seems to want to point out that Durbin made his comments in a public forum, the foor of the Senate. Rove on the other hand made his comments at a semi-private Republican function. I see a diffrence there.

Or how about the fact that Durbin is being hailed, by the left, as a politicianthat is willing to stand up for his beliefs and convictions. Yet in 2002, when Trent Lott made comments that were taken as an endoresement of Strom Thurmond’s racist history… he apologized profusely on four occasions but the blood thirsty on the left and middle, wanted him gone.

How are we so accepting of a half-hearted dismissal from a Liberal Senator, yet aren’t even willing to accept nothing short of suicide from the same on the right?
