My views on the Delay indictment
First, let me say that I don’t think the charges brought against DeLay will not get to trial.
I’ve read the indictment, and it is chock full of, shoulda, coulda, mighta’s that when you’re done reading it, you’re not quite sure there was even anything to prosecute.
For those of you who don’t know, everything even remotely corrupt in the last two years has somehow come out of Travis County Texas. Those fabulous CBS documents that Dan Rather STILL stands by… Travis County. The author of those documents… Travis County. Now we have good ol Ronnie Earl, well known for partisan politics and politically motivated indictments, handing out an indictment against DeLay. Keep in mind that Earl has been trying to take down DeLay for years, and has been noted for wanting to do anything to do it.
Corporate contributions to legislative candidates are illegal in Texas, and this is what DeLay and his aides stand to be charged with. The money in question, never actually went to the candidates in question, instead it was sent to a fund controlled by the RNC in D.C… The money was then used far and wide to fund political campaigns for many RNC candidates, a regular activity not only in Texas, but in many states by BOTH major political parties.
On October 31, 2002, the Texas Democratic Party sent the Democratic National Committee (DNC) $75,000, and on the same day, the DNC sent the Texas Democratic Party $75,000. On July 19, 2001, the Texas Democratic Party sent the DNC $50,000 and, again on the same day, the DNC sent the Texas Democratic Party $60,000. On June 8, 2001, the Texas Democratic Party sent the DNC $50,000. That very same day, the DNC sent the Texas Democratic Party $60,000 (HT Captains Quarters). Somehow this in considered to be all fine and dandy and 100% legal to Bubba Earl, after all, they both wear the donkey patch.
On the same side of the coin, Nancy Pelosi has been involved in wholesale and indisputable election law violations, yet she’s giving DeLay ethics lectures. Ha! I don’t see anyone clamoring for her head…
Now don’t go barking about that I’m standing by DeLay, if he is found to have actually done something illegal, he should be brought to trial and tried just like any other citizen would be had they broken the law, BUT serious investigation into Bubba Earl’s background should be done and it should be exposed so that the nature of his rulings can be seen by the public.
Once again, I am expecting this indictment to go no where fast.

Indictments don’t have to offer a lot of proof.
The case is a classic oney laundering scheme — but has a strong paper trail.
The prosecutor has prosecuted 15 politicians in his career — 12 of them Democrats. DeLay is only the third Republican he’s prosecuted.
Sure, DeLay’s enemies are out to get him.
That doesn’t mean he didn’t commit the crimes he’s charged with.
The two are not mutually exclusive.

My point remains that if this is a classic ‘money laundering’ scheme, then what are they doing ignoring the DNC that did THE SAME THING… with a paper trail… twice in 2001 and once in 2002.
Again, turning a blind eye to justify the end result.
