Hillary in ‘08 PLEASE NO!

Lefties

According to a CNN/Gallup poll 51% of those polled said that there was NO way, they would vote for Hillary in 2008. What about the other 49%?

32% MIGHT Consider voting for her.

16% Will definitely vote for her.

Wow, now there’s an encouraging sign Hillary, so far you have a sure thing on 16% of America.

Speaking of Hillary, I saw my first Hillary ‘08 bumper sticker the other day… on what else, a VW Bus.

Wait for the “triple dog dare”

Government, World News

According to Iranian Defense Minister Gen. Mostafa Mohammad Najjar:

Zionists should know that if they do anything evil against Iran, the response of Iran’s armed forces will be so firm that it will send them into eternal coma, like Sharon. The United States and Israel have been trying to frighten Iran, but neither country would dare attack us.

Since this comment made no reference to anything more pushy than a “dare”, I’m pretty sure foriegn policy states that the US must wait until Iran issues a “triple dog dare” before they retaliate.

I vote for skipping the T.D.D. and turning out Iran’s lights just for kicks.

Google has two faces

Government, Technology
Communist Google

Google is a company; just like any other… they’re in it for the almighty dollar. What I find particularly amusing, is their recent hypocritical chest pounding over censorship.

Recently, the US Justice Department decided, in its quest to cleanse the net of that evil scourge called ‘porn’, that it would request from our major internet search engines a weeks worth of sexually related search terms. Google refused, on the grounds that it would not want its search terms used in a way that would unjustly censor the search results of its US customers. Ironically, less than a week later, Google is reportedly working with the Communist government of China, on a heavily censored version of their search engine (google.cn). The Chinese government will have complete control over what is returned from a search on Google based on what they feel the people of China need to see. So much for Google’s motto: “Don’t be evil”.

Now don’t get me wrong, Google is free to do whatever they want (within the law) to make their money, and although I tend to disagree with many of the ways they choose to make a buck, that’s part of the game. I just find it amusing that a company that is, on one face steadfast against the Bush administrations attempt to filter results in the “war on porn”, then on the other face shakes hand with a Communist government allowing them free reign to censor anything they deem ‘inappropriate’ (read: wake them up) for their citizens.

Don’t be evil or be evil… THAT is the question. Google, your answer please. :)

The Feds are after your entertainment

Government, Media, Technology

On Tuesday, the Senate Commerce Committee will begin hearings on a set of government regulations (ugh) on digital media. The regulations are looked at in the form of ‘flags’ set by the media industry… broadcast flags, and audio flags.

If this law comes into play the government and the entertainment industry could be able to control what you do with the digital media in your home. In the case of broadcast flags… they gain control of your right to copy, back-up, or convert broadcast media into formats more convenient to you (i.e. TV > iPod), basically turning “fair use” on it’s head. The most dubious of all, the audio flag has the potential to allow the FCC into the gold mine… Satellite radio.

If you live in one of the following states PLEASE call, Fax, or email your Senator as they are on the Senate Commerce Committee, and let them know that this bill is complete hogwash and needs to be put to an early rest as soon as possible.

Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Florida, Hawaii, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Dakota, Oregon, South, Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Washington, or West Virginia

While you’re at it, ask their support for HR 1201 that would allow MORE freedom to do with your media, as YOU wish (i.e. moving the contents of a CD to an MP3 player etc.).

Intelligent Design vs. Evolution (0-1)

Education, Government, Religion

The official Vatican newspaper published an article this week labeling as “correct” the recent decision by a judge in Pennsylvania that intelligent design should not be taught as a scientific alternative to evolution.

“…it is not correct from a methodological point of view to stray from the field of science while pretending to do science. It only creates confusion between the scientific plane and those that are philosophical or religious.” - Professor Fiorenzo Facchini (University of Bologna)

Tell me it’s not so! I’ve never understood why people think we’re so stupid, as to mistake philisophical, religious dogma as science.

Rev. George Coyne - (Director, Vatican Observatory) “Intelligent design isn’t science, even though it pretends to be. Intelligent design should be taught when religion or cultural history is taught, not science.”
