Kill em with love

Miscellaneous

I saw this first thing when I got to work this morning and I thought it was a fairly decent approach to Neo-Nazi rallies.

There is a Neo-Nazi rally planned for Orlando this weekend, and Florida Sen. Gary Siplin, rather than ignoring the problem (like I think he SHOULD), will be staging a ‘counter’ rally that will shower the Nazi moron’s with love.

“We are going to love them. We are going to shower them with love because we know love conquers all. Love never fails and love conquers hate.”

One problem Mr. Siplin… I know it SOUNDS good in thoery, I REALLY don’t think it will work. Imagine a large mob of people, that are full of seething rage and hate aimed in your direction simply because you are of a darker color. If you try to stop them with praise and love and adoration… I can only see that as incentive to pop you one.

I’ve tried the “kill them with kindness” route before and before it actually starts being effective, you wind up making the already mad party, even more angry than they were before. Not to mention, you’re dealing with fairly ignorant people, who resport with violence when something deviates from “the plan”. Your BEST bet, in my opinion, would be to go about your daily lives as if they didn’t even exist, but I’m willing to bet SOMEONE will start something, a riot will break out, and the press will eat it up ignoring anything but the ones who have a constitutional right to assemble.

It sounds very similar to what they did in Austin, Texas last year. A KKK group had a rally downtown, and while the KKK members only numbered less than 30, there were several hundred if not thousand “anti-protesters” that were held back on the congress bridge 100 yards away from the KKK group. While the police said they could not stop the KKK from holding their rally, they also did not want a riot, or the “anti-protesters” getting involved. There for the “buffer zone” was created.

Where do we drawn the line of the 1st amendment?

Well I don’t think it’s a matter of US drawing the line FOR anyone… they tend to do that for themselves.

Groups like the KKK, while militant in nature are legally allowed to put on these ‘gatherings’ so long as they keep to themselves and are peaceful. Usually someone throws a verbal remark their way, and their legal gathering, becomes illegal by them reacting to the comment or offender.

I guess the advice could go both ways… to the KKK and those in the city with which they gather. Ignore each other, it’s best for everyone… but then there would be no REASON for them to exist.
