Katrina! Katrina! Katrina! Katrina! Katrina!

Media Bias

Gore - Hurricanes

WOW, I thought it was going to be bad… but it’s been INSANE and we’re just on Monday!

As if it were planned(and it wouldn’t shock me to find out it was)… Tropical Storm Ernesto is being used to as best it can, to remind us of this time last year (otherwise known as Katrina). The only problem the news media is having, is that Ernesto is still JUST a Tropical Storm and it may not even HIT the US.

That little speed bump is still not stopping our press though. You can’t turn on a weather forecast where they mention Ernesto without them having to slap in a comment about Katrina. The two aren’t even comparable people… we have YET to have a single hurricane this year, and we’re panicking about a stupid Tropical Storm?

Yes I said panicking… and YES they ARE in a panic. Florida governor Jeb Bush has issued a state of emergency for the entire state and Ernesto isn’t even classified as a hurricane yet! To give you a little perspective, Ernesto is topping out with winds in the 50+ MPH range and a classification of “Tropical Storm”, in 2004 Florida had four separate hurricanes, Charley… Frances… Ivan… and Jeanne… not ONCE did they declare an emergency when these storms were puttering along @ 50 MPH.

Aside from the constant state of panic this country seems to be in post Katrina, THE most irritating thing I’ve seen from all of this “One Year Since” coverage is that most every expose I’ve seen on Katrina focuses on New Orleans for the majority, if not the whole broadcast. People, New Orleans didn’t even get a direct hit from Katrina… and there WERE other victims. I’ve heard one mention of Mississippi in the 5 broadcast features I’ve watched on the storm and that mention was 10 min in length with almost NO footage of actual damage in Mississippi.

The reason we’re hearing so much about New Orleans is that they made the most noise, and unfortunately for the other victims outside of New Orleans, the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Guard the Borders Blogburst

Border Patrol

Wide open and unguarded stand our gates, and through them passes a wild motley throng.

You cannot become thorough Americans if you think of yourselves in groups. America does not consist of groups. A man who thinks of himself as belonging to a particular national group in America has not yet become an American.

Why you shouldn’t…

Government, Humor

I saw this list, and I HAD to repost it.

(Full credit for this list goes out to Neal Boortz, Syndicated AM Talk Show host)

Why you shouldn’t vote Republican

  • They have absolutely no fiscal discipline whatsoever. No congress has ever blown money on vote-buying programs quite like the current Republican congress has.
  • There are far too many Republicans who want to take their personal religious blueprints for behavior and make them law.
  • The seem unwilling to press the advantage when it is theirs to press.
  • They’re prudes.
  • Stem cell research.
  • Donald Wildmon
  • The McCain-Feingold Campaign Reform Act.
  • Democrats think that it’s odd that the jails are so full while our crime rate is going down.
  • The Medicare Prescription Drug benefit for the Gimme Generation
  • If they had their way, Terri Schiavo’s soul would still not be at rest.
  • They pay more attention to K Street than they do to the American workers and businessmen carrying the load.
  • They can’t even protect America’s borders.
  • Do you want your kids to come home from a government school and tell you that the Earth is only 6000 years old?

Why you shouldn’t vote Democrat

  • They clearly will not defend America from Islamic Fascism … not now … not until the price of that defense is catastrophic.
  • They think terrorism is a law enforcement problem.
  • Their war against individualism.
  • They think America is great because of its government.
  • They seem to think that income is distributed, not earned.
  • They promote class warfare.
  • They have almost single-handedly destroyed black culture in America.
  • Hillary Clinton.
  • They’re joined at the hip with teacher’s unions.
  • Taxes can never be too high for Democrats.
  • They fully intend to destroy talk radio.
  • Their love of mob rule.
  • The fully intend to turn illegal aliens into Democrat voters.
  • Like the Republicans; they refuse to protect America’s borders

Why your shouldn’t vote Libertarian

  • With over 50% of the American people harboring strong libertarian feelings, they can’t manage to mount a viable third-party campaign. How would they manage to govern?
  • Not only will they not defend America’s borders, they don’t really think the borders need defending.
  • Though philosophically they’re right, they fail to see that their “legalize drugs” agenda isn’t exactly a winner with the American people.
  • They never jumped on eminent domain abuse as the party agenda. People will react when they think their property rights are being threatened …. and the Libertarians couldn’t take advantage of this.
  • Have you seen the way some of the people at their convention dress?

Survivor controversy from nothing

Media

Season 13 of CBS’ hit show Survivor is set to hit the waves in a few weeks and their plan for this year has some people (in the PC crowd) on the rampage.

For those of you who have NO clue what is involved with this show, the contestants are split into “tribes” and stranded in a remote local and made to survive on their surroundings while they compete in competitions and vote each other off week by week. Recently, the show has been slipping in the ratings a bit so they’re doing what any show would do in such a situation… they’re creating a controversy.

This season, there will be 4 tribes… 1 tribe of Whites, 1 tribe of Blacks, 1 tribe of Asians, and 1 tribe of Hispanics.

New York City Councilman John Liu has put his 2 cents in, “The idea of having a battle of the races is preposterous. How could anybody be so desperate for ratings?” and many in the country want the show pulled. I say, too bad… show it! Simply because these individuals have been split by ethnicity doesn’t mean that CBS is stereotyping anyone. They’re not going to make the Asians live off rice and noodles… and the Blacks survive off Chicken and Waffles. THAT would be stereotyping.

The problem I have with controversies like these is that people see a 30 second commercial that mentions a racial split for the show this season and people fill in the blanks with their own racist assumptions. What usually happens is that controversy builds and builds and builds, only to completely die once the show airs.

Oh My God, he MEOWED at me!

Justice

Believe it or not, a 14 year old boy in Jeannette, PA has had charges filed against him for MEOWING at his 78 year old neighbor.

You heard that right… he makes a sound like a cat at a 78 year old woman, and the police are sicked on him as if he were some sort of criminal. The boy’s family states that the only reason they can see for his ‘meowing’ is that they were forced to get rid of their cat after their neighbor complained to police that the cat ‘went’ in her flower bed.

I’m glad the courts are dealing with the IMPORTANT issues facing us in this day and age. After all, it’s not like we have any REAL threats facing us at the moment.
