How to sue your friends…

About a week ago, Stephanie Eick borrowed an iPod from her friend Shannon Derrik. After she was done with whatever she borrowed it for, she returned it… or at least that was her goal.

See, Stephanie wasn’t to dialed in on the “proper way” to return personal property to your friends. Stephanie, rather than personally hand over the iPod to her friend, apparently placed the iPod on her friends desk so she would find it when she arrived. Needless to say, the iPod walked off without its owner.

Now in a rational society Stephanie would own up to her stupidity, purchase a new iPod for Shannon and bygones would be bygones.

Welcome to America ladies and gentlemen! Shannon’s family turned around and sued for $475 in damages and court fees. Shannon has also relayed that there was about $45 worth of music on her iPod that she can’t listen to anymore. Instead she has to rely on the *GASP* Radio for her music.

The kicker comes when an anonymous donation of a NEW iPod and a $50 iTunes Gift Card were turned down by Shannon’s family and the court session will continue on as planned.

Now THERE’S a lesson for your 14 year old! Don’t give in to outside pressure when a solution presents itself… sue the crap out of your friends for stupid mistakes!
