I’ve never really understood many of the ‘life lessons’ that our government schools teach our children as they make their way towards a life of functional illiteracy and a lack of historical knowledge but this lesson, taught to the students of Oscoda High School in Oscoda, Michigan.
The “mighty” owls football team is not very good, well to put it bluntly… they stink. The first four football games of the season went by scoreless and the team found themselves having to explain an 0-4 record to the school board. The school board at Oscoda High, much like their recent opponents ran right over the football team, and cancelled their entire season.
That’s right… the team was on a losing streak, so they were forced to QUIT.
THE number one lesson that parents try their best to instill in their kids, “don’t give up, even in the face of adversity” was crapped on by some image conscious overzealous school board members.
The lesson these kids have been forced to learn is that if you get knocked down, don’t bother getting up, dusting yourself off and trying harder next time, just give up… it’s easier.
