Immigration raids actually working?
Well apparently the recent batch of raids on illegals (they’re NOT undocumented workers… they reside here in defiance of our laws) in several states including California have got quite a few on edge.
Rosa Maria Salazar, who lives in California, jumps when anyone comes in to the cafe where she works (illegally). “We’re terrified. The police could come for us at any time and deport us.” she said (in Spanish) of the recent rash of deportations in her state.
Antonio Bernabe who works for the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles said, “We hadn’t seen anything like this here before, and it came as a shock.” What comes as a shock? That someone would actually hold people accountable for breaking the law? WOW, big shocker!
Electrician Manuel Salomon said, “We used to feel secure here, but it looks like that honeymoon is over.”
You know… I never can understand how someone can violate the law, and then act utterly confused and shocked when they’re punished for it. Here’s hoping that the current congress and administration decide to open the floodgates any wider.

Can’t anwer your question over at the Jungle, cuz Jenn banned me.
But no one’s talking about taking away guns from the citizenry, except the repuplicans. Again, I ask, what about well regulated do rightwingers not understand?

no one’s talking about taking away guns from the citizenry, except the republicans.
Wha? Where? Who? You are one confusing person.
Last time I checked, the last government action to remove guns from citizens took place in San Fran… HARDLY the Republican utopia.
I’ve read your ‘regulation’ question many times as still see no relevance to it. Care to point me where you’re coming from?

Yayyy, we’re finally doing something right! It’s so frustrating to me. Got no problem with anyone coming over if they want to work and speak English to integrate well, but Jesus, if you’re already living in the States and have a job, the least you could do is also, I don’t know, see about abiding the laws of the country that you apparently love. You know, that whole thing.
I am sorry that it’s upsetting to these people, but when you break the law, what are you really expecting? Someone to hand you a candy bar and say, “It’s okay! No biggie! We’ll let this one slide!”
And what the hell is mudkitty referring to?

Thousands of birds fly accross the borders every day. No one gives a damn. Man is the only animal who walls himself in in order to be “free”.
When the Social Security System was first established there were those who were sure the establishment of numerical ID numbers was the Biblical “mark of the beast.” Well, we are rapidly approaching that time when no one can buy or sell without it.
