Wow, the superbowl…

I’m not a big fan of football, but I watched last nights Patriot / Colt game because it was supposed to be a very good game.
THAT IT WAS…
Talk about one heck of a comeback victory to grab yourself a spot in the biggest game of the season… well played.
Now, saying that… there was one comment that just REALLY got to me last night and in subsequent post game shows that I think was just simply not needed.
The comment was made just minutes after the game was won and made reference to the “amazing fact” that there would be two teams at the Superbowl that were coached by black men.
Who cares!?
I’ve never understood the fascination of our culture with inventing statistics and harping on them as if it were some amazing information. Who REALLY cares that both coaches happen to be black. Does it make the game any more interesting? What if they were both Asian… or French or anything else you can dream up.
The Bears and The Colts made it to the Superbowl because they were excellent teams, lead by excellent coaches. The color of their skin didn’t make them any better at their job so why should it make interesting news?

Obviously you don’t get this. The color of your skin, and your heritage, is amazingly fascinating if you’re not white.
It is silly, isn’t it? The politically correct say race shouldn’t matter–and I agree; it’s about a person’s actions–and yet they are also the crowd who constantly bringing up the color of people!
