One more thing…
This comment is directed at one of the players on the Rutgers Basketball team in response to her comment in response to the recent comments by Don Imus… specifically, Matee Ajavon.
“It kind of scars us. We grew up in a world where racism exists, and there’s nothing we can do to change that. I think that this has scarred me for life.”
You’re right… racism exists and while I personally feel that EVERYONE is to blame for that, I need to say one thing… What came out of Don Imus’ mouth was not a bullet, it was not anything that could physically do you harm… they were words. I don’t know if you ever heard the phrase… but “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never harm me”.
I would like to know how someone calling you, or your friends ANYTHING, can “scar you for life”.
Yes it was insesitive, but life goes on… you have better things to do with your life than cry because someone called you a bad name. I’m sure you’re a fairly intelligent person and I hope words don’t carry so much power in your life that they affect who you are.

I think people will get a different view of Don Imus once they discover he is in therapy. Check out the details at my blog – “Necessary Therapy”.

I am totally in agreement, bud!
Get over it already! It was stupid what he said, but stupid is as stupid does, and to continue this is simply creating a news story where there really isn’t one.

I also agree! Anyone wanting to change who they are and how they feel about themselves is told that the first thing you must do is not let other people’s opinions of YOU define who you are.
Just get over it and move on. Imus’ stupid remark towards these young girls was wrong. But, comedians have always poked fun at races and people in the public. Being a woman, blonde, and from the south, I get it that it was a COMEDY/NEWS show.
I cringe to think, though, how this suppressing freedom of speech will effect our already crumbling constitution. It seems that their are so few open-minded people anymore. It seems to be this group or person versus that group or person. I thought part of growing up was to be mature and balanced in our thinking. Instead I see more very self-centered, all-for-me-none-for-you, self-righteous, my faults don’t count people. When you take away freedom of speech, then this is not America anymore-Kinda like the infighting of the Shiite, Suni & Kurd, huh?

You said it much better than I did.
In a nutshell, what he said were words. The team will get over it. And Imus will get picked up by a company that wants to have a huge instant audience in a couple of weeks once this blows over.
