CSU Learns That Freedom Has Consequences

In the Editorial section of the Colorado State paper a segment contained a large section that proclaimed, “Taser this … F*** Bush.”, though the paper spelled out the F-Bomb. Following the ‘article’ was the notice that “This column represents the views of the Collegian’s Editorial Board.”
Defending the column, many students stated that the CSU paper has freedom of speech and the press so they can say whatever they want.
As I have said more times than I can count, you CAN say whatever you want but words and actions DO have consequences even if they’re unintended. Well as if to prove that point, the CSU Bookstore has pulled all of its advertising from the paper, and in total the paper has lost nearly $30,000 in ad revenue forcing them to slash their employee pay and budgets by 10%.
While I agree that they CAN publish what they want, you have to know there’s a line and that it’s the people who pay your bills.
