Suing To Break The Law
Reverend Miguel Rivera, National President of CONLAMIC (Coalition of Latin Clergy and Christian Leaders) is heading up a lawsuit against the State of Oklahoma to declare House Bill 1804 unconstitutional.
For those of you, non-Oklahoma readers out there, here is a brief synopsis of the bill for you.
- require employers to verify the residency of new employees
- require local and state law enforcement agencies to detain illegal immigrants
- require proof of citizenship prior to obtaining a state identification
- deny government benefits such has health care and welfare programs to illegal immigrants, with the exception of a emergency or humanitarian needs
So, in a nutshell, if you’re in our country illegally and find yourself in Oklahoma, you’re pretty much shit out of luck. Where the people who support illegal immigration have an issue is that the impending “effective on” date of 11/1 is fast approaching and a HUGE portion of our Hispanic society has misread the text of the bill and is fleeing the state for fear of what they call “Hitler-esque” oppression of Hispanics in Oklahoma.
I’ve got news for you, if you READ the text of the bill, you will PLAINLY see that American Citizens are not effected AT ALL… no matter what your national origins may be. You simply have to be a LEGAL citizen. Stealing a SSN doesn’t make you legal.

Does this bill protect the legal, permanent resident also? From what I read of the synopsis above, it only would provide protection for Hispanic citizens. What about all of the young students who are here studying on a legal visa? The ONLY problem that I have with anything to do with this law is the blatant fear-mongering that the so-called Hispanic leaders are guilty of: not actually explaining what this law does and doesn’t do to many of the legal families who may not yet have grasped the language or who are more comfortable getting their “news” from the pulpit vs. the TV or the internet where they could learn the actual truth for themselves. Anyone who has met the “Reverend” Orta will agree with me, this dude is a crook who is out only for himself!

The only people that it REALLY affects are illegal aliens who break the law.
The bill does not even narrow down “Illegal alien” to Hispanic!
The state government has issued release after release stating that we are not TARGETING illegals… the only people who need to worry are those BREAKING THE LAW and getting CAUGHT.
