This man makes the case for the death penalty
I’m not sure how many of my readers are parents but this man makes an excellent candidate for the death penalty.
Tyrone Spellman spends 6-7 hours A DAY worshiping his precious XBox 360… His 17-month old daughter Alayiah Turman pulled it off the shelf one morning and broke it, which resulted in the only logical reaction, he beat her to death fracturing her skull multiple times. He then fled the house leaving the dead child and her mother sleeping in the back bedroom.
He could be facing 23-40 years in prison but if you ask me… the man has no reason to waste the tax dollars of the state he will be residing in, he’s worthless… take him out with the trash.

“waste the tax dollars of the state”?
I think that most estimates say its more expensive to kill a person than to give them life in prison. I’d be interested to know if you have opposite evidence.

Who said the state has to put him down… lock him in a room with about 20 moms and it’ll be over in a few minutes.

Man that’s freaking heart wrenching. This guy deserves to have the exact same thing done to him that he did to his daughter.

My daughter pulled my iBook off the desk when she was 18 months old and it cracked the case and froze the computer up but she was 18 months old… the most I would have done, even now that she’s 6 would have been to remove her from the room and fix the piece of equipment.
Your child is more important that a stupid game and if you can’t see that, why did you bother reproducing.

Looked it up and this happened in 2006, but he was convicted recently of 3rd degree murder.
I’m a father of 4 and I could not imagine doing anything of the sort to my children if they broke… anything, let alone a video game console. Accidents happen and, by jove, that’s why they call them accidents. Seeing way too many news articles about children dying. It’s a freaking sick world out there.
I did find this in the article interesting:
I wonder what would have happened if the social workers had caught her broken arm and followed up on it. Not saying that it’s their fault, it’s definitely that guy’s fault (not calling him a father) although I’m sure some argument against government-run services is out there. Anyway, this is sad, regardless.

My youngest is 20 months old and the most he’s done is throw Gameboys across the room and pull the keys off of my laptop. I let him know that it was unacceptable and removed him from the situation so it could be taken care of.
Some people don’t reproduce on purpose. For our first, it wasn’t a planned event or anything; however, we’ve learned to place our priorities in the right place and grow up.

Exactly… sadly it’s the rampant welfare class we created in this country that are costing all of us a zillion dollars.

I’m all for the death penalty in this case. If the man had any sense or honor he’d already have ended his own life. Then again, if he had any sense he wouldn’t have committed the act in the first place.
I’ve seen several of those reports on the cost of execution being higher than incarceration, however I’ve never seen a single report explaining the costs. I have to believe it’s due to all the second chance litigation we give to criminals, and all the time they sit on death row before the sentence is carried out. I can’t think of a single good reason for it to be expensive.

Giving the “second chance” folks a nod… I’m all for allowing anyone sentenced to death a shot @ redeeming themselves… but you should only get ONE.
You have ONE shot to drag out anything and everything that could possibly reverse your sentence… Fail… Done.
I’m also a big supporter of fast tracking the death penalty… why should someone sit in a cell for 20-30 years first. Give them 5 years MAX to have their shot @ a reversal and then BAM.
