McCain digs for conservative support

Yesterday at CPAC, John McCain laid out his platform for his bid for the White House and I have to say, much of it falls dead on with Conservative lines… BUT.

You have to be weary, of a man who has a very liberal record for a “conservative”, these are just promises. Saying you’re going to do something is different than DOING something and comparing his words to his past still makes me weary.

Here are some of the points he touched on during his speech…

  • Continue to carry the fight to those who intend us harm, wherever they may show their face.
  • Seal down the border… completely. Once that is accomplished, THEN worry about those already here.
  • Refusal to sign ANY bill containing a SINGLE earmark… not ONE.
  • Reduce the size of government.
  • Not allow the expansion of entitlement programs
  • Make the Bush tax cuts permanent
  • Cut corporate tax rates.
  • Develop free market solutions for health care, and respect for the right of free individuals to make choices for themselves.

Sounds great to me… but like I said earlier… Should I have faith in this mans word given the comparison between his ACTUAL record and his “plan” for his future as our President? Between faith and Hillary or Obama I’m leaning toward faith myself. He just has to know that he’s riding a THIN line and really cannot politically afford to go back on his word.
