The IOC wants you to support the Olympics!
Sorry, but I’m tuning out any Olympic broadcasts this time around… regardless of any rosy pictures painted by the IOC.
The recent events in Tibet, the wholesale slaughter of cats by the government to paint a false “clean” image of China to ignorant tourists, and the gag orders issued on the athletes by the oppressive communist government vowing banishment or disqualification from events for any pro-democracy/anti-communist speech has just blown it for me.
There has been a steady decline in the overall appeal of the Olympics to me… it’s becoming overly commercialized and way too censored for my taste. When you feel the need to modify the appearance of your culture so that you appear CIVILIZED to the rest of the world, you crossed a line. If your culture is so out of whack that even you know that the rest of the world will see you as backwards and possibly medieval in your practices then that should tell you something.
When you have Olympic quality athletes passing on the chance at a gold medal, because they feel simply walking on your soil could cause irreparable harm to their bodies… you need to wake up.
Sorry IOC, you can have your little Olympics… but I don’t think you should be crying if entire countries pull out for this one. You pick the place… and you chose China.

Well, China is still a developing country regardless of what they think they are. But when I heard about their cat death camps, well, I’m just still a little creeped out. Can’t wait to see what happens to the rat population and the disease they carry. =/

China Blocks YouTube to control what the population knows about the riots in Tibet… They’ve killed hundreds, and are parading their prisoners as a means of “scaring out” the rest. Cute…
Anybody who’s human and has a conscience should boycott the Chinese Olympics! These hypocrites hiding behind a facade of airbrushed lies have caused much suffering and agony to the people of Burma and Aung San Suu Kyi. China is the one giving powerful support to the Junta dogs of Burma! They are the ones defending these ruthless criminals against justice, thereby fuelling a never ending cycle of “blood sucking” relationships between China and Burma whilst Aung San Suu Kyi wilts away doing what is right. I’ve found the Olympics incredibly boring for some time now. They even removed baseball, which was the nail in the coffin for me.
