Savage on autism… now they want his job?

As most of you know by now… Talk Radio host Michael Savage (known for his off color and intentionally inflammatory remarks) let loose with his personal opinion of autism… royally ticking off mothers nation wide.

Now, you want me to tell you my opinion on autism, since I’m not talking about autism? A fraud, a racket. For a long while, we were hearing that every minority child had asthma. Why did they sudden — why was there an asthma epidemic amongst minority children? Because I’ll tell you why: The children got extra welfare if they were disabled, and they got extra help in school. It was a money racket. Everyone went in and was told, “When the nurse looks at you, you go, ‘I don’t know, the dust got me.’ ” See, everyone had asthma from the minority community. That was number one.

Now, the illness du jour is autism. You know what autism is? I’ll tell you what autism is. In 99 percent of the cases, it’s a brat who hasn’t been told to cut the act out. That’s what autism is.

What do you mean they scream and they’re silent? They don’t have a father around to tell them, “Don’t act like a moron. You’ll get nowhere in life. Stop acting like a putz. Straighten up. Act like a man. Don’t sit there crying and screaming, idiot.”

Autism — everybody has an illness. If I behaved like a fool, my father called me a fool. And he said to me, “Don’t behave like a fool.” The worst thing he said — “Don’t behave like a fool. Don’t be anybody’s dummy. Don’t sound like an idiot. Don’t act like a girl. Don’t cry.” That’s what I was raised with. That’s what you should raise your children with. Stop with the sensitivity training. You’re turning your son into a girl, and you’re turning your nation into a nation of losers and beaten men. That’s why we have the politicians we have.

Now parents of autistic children want him pulled from every station that runs his show and for him to be fired from his radio career. Trust me people… he’s said FAR worse.

I do believe there are misdiagnosis of diseases from children to adults… that’s not to say that a good percentage of children diagnosed with autism DON’T have it… but I do think his 99% mark was a GROSS over estimate. I think ADHD and ADD are a load of crap… but that’s my personal opinion.

The man is entitled to his opinion… he wasn’t calling for autistic people to be rounded up and shot, he said that he thinks it’s a load of crap.

Who cares if what he said was “insensitive”, if the words of a man who you don’t even listen to, do that much damage to you or your family then I would say it is you that has an issue, not he. Grow a thicker skin and ignore people like him.

So you don’t like his opinion… he should be silenced to suit your sensitivities? Sorry, we have freedoms in America, and one of those freedoms is for anyone to be able to spout off their opinions regardless of your disagreement.

Do I think he was off the mark? Yes… do I think he should lose his job or be gagged? Hell No.

Get over it and take care of your kids.

Should he lose his job? That’s up to the people that pay him but should he get away with this..?

I think they’d have more luck just suing him straight to hell. He just slandered a load of people calling sufferers frauds, implying carers are benefit cheats and all their doctors are incompetent at diagnosing ASD.

If I had a national radio show and I called you a rapist, do you really think that’s within my rights? Of course I could say it but it’s also your right to be able to sue my pants off for spouting a substance-less claim.

Sure you can call me a rapist, and it would be within my rights to sue you if I felt it was a damaging accusation.

The typical reaction to the comments of a shock jock is the pitchfork and torch one… not the more logical legal avenue. People don’t like what he said so they set off to destroy him, rather than hit his pocketbook with a damaging lawsuit.

One lady had the right idea yesterday talking to a local radio host here yesterday. Savage may have been way off base in slamming Autistic people and those who diagnose them, but he brought a topic no one usually discusses, out in the open, and it actually made her job as an activist, spreading news and information about Autism easier.

Why SHOULDN”T he lose his job? We live in a nation where a person has the right to not only say what they wish but they have the right to bear the conseqences of this decision also. Autistic kids are born with chemical imbalances that they did not chose to have.

If he thinks that a child/adult should be held accountable for their actions and disciplined why shouldn’t we hold him to his own standard. The standard form of discipline for an abborant worker is
dismissal. He made his bed when he chose to ignore a host of suitable topics to pick on innocent kids. Let him be held accountable for his actions. Fire him.

Money is the issue… regardless of how off base he may be, he is valuable to his employer so long as he is a profitable investment.

If his comments become a financial burden then the incentive exists for his employer to dump and move on.
