McCain’s “house” problem?

Obama has gotten desperate… how can we tell? His campaign is slamming McCain for owning multiple homes.

John McCain apparently owns seven properties, worth approximately seventeen million dollars. Since none of these are in foreclosure this apparently disqualifies McCain for the White House.

Somehow, a wealthy politician is HUGE news to the Democrats and they are running all over the country now filming their opinions on McCain’s home ownership in front of foreclosure signs etc as if to show that McCain can’t run the country because he’s not hit by the house crunch.

Comparing and contrasting a wealthy politician to Joe Factory Worker and his over extended mortgage is beyond pathetic. If being a wealthy politician that owns a handful of homes and other realty makes you unfit to lead, then I have news for Presidential hopefuls out there. YOU LOSE.

I hope Obama doesn’t want his realty dealings with Rezko brought up… but then again. He opened that can of worms himself.

Really… if electing a President comes down to something as petty and childish as this, we’re BEYOND screwed.

You’re paraphrasing a bit.

The ad first quoted Politico: “McCain unsure how many houses he owns”. Full article: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0808/12685.html

The video is also a little silly. It quotes him saying the fundamentals of the economy are strong, but represents it as if he’s saying the economy is strong. Only one word different but a whole world of difference in meaning.

So sure, they’re party showing the “he’s richer than you” side of things but more significantly (I think): “He doesn’t know how many bloody houses he owns!” and (wrongly) “He thinks the economy is fine!”

It’s painting the picture of him being a bit on the fickle side.

If he HAD said “the economy is strong” then he would have been wrong… but fundamentally our economy ISN’T weak so I fail to see how that could be seen as fickle.

So what if he forgot how many houses he has… what relevance does that have to his ability to lead? Being fickle is not the point they’re trying to make… rushing out to film blue-collar workers in front of foreclosed homes as a twisted homage to McCain’s wealth is a pathetic pandering parlor trick to focus potential Obama voters off of key issues and onto fluff.

There are roughly 4 campaign ads for Obama running in my state right now and they’re so poorly written and misguided you think they’re a commercial for the local power company until you see Obama’s face at the end.

Huckabee said it very well last night, “McCain’s campaign is deep, but not wide… Obama’s is wide, not deep.”

Obama has gathered hordes of “fans” while McCain is busy building up voters.

…add that to Obama’s comment on this non-issue.

“But if you’re like me, and you’ve got one house, or you are like the millions of people who are struggling right now to keep up with their mortgage so they don’t lose their home, you might have a different perspective.”

REALLY… I didn’t know Obama was down and out, struggling to make his house payments… facing possible foreclosure on his million dollar home.

If EITHER of these men were in the same position many Americans are in they could honor us with their humble opinions on the plight of the common man. Thing is… NEITHER of them do so the pandering needs to cease.

Far from envying John and Cindy McCain’s (and Barack and Michelle Obama’s) financial success, I admire it, wish everyone admired it, and hope they remain successful. I think wealth envy is the most pathetic thing we have in this country.

Everyone should strive to be as successful as the McCain’s, not b1tch and moan that the McCain’s own “too many” houses.

In fact, the moment we have a presidential candidate that is in the middle of foreclosure proceedings is the moment this country is doomed to the scrap-heap of history.

Well said Casey…

I still don’t understand why he even recognized the question at all. Had that been asked of me, my answer would have been, “May I ask what relevance my investments have in becoming the President?”

Answer… none.

It’s pandering and that’s all. Obama has nothing on McCain except that he’s old and supports drilling for more oil. He wants the elitist label on someone else and portraying McCain as “rich and out of touch” while he himself is in the same boat is hypocritical.

If being in foreclosure is a prerequisite for the Presidency, then Rep. Laura Richardson (D-CA) wins hands down.

Actually, they are not in the same boat.

Official Net Worth: McCain $36.4 Million, Obama $799,000

That is not the same boat. This isn’t about who has more money though. Obama is just pointing out the hypocrasy. For the past couple of weeks MCCain has been trying to paint Obama as an elitist, and out of touch while making himself look like the common man, and Obama has just beesn sitting back and taking it.

Well, a common man doesn’t have a private jet, and so many houses he can’t even remember how many.

He was on a roll, then he got caught, and Obama pounced on it. Imagine if the Republicans found out Obama had 7 freaking houses, oh lord!!!.

Face it, this hurts MCcains argument, and Obama should keep on pushing this.

They’re both in the same boat, because they’re both wealthy politicians and they’re both trying to disguise themselves as non elitists.

The fact is, everyone KNOWS they’re elitists (if you think a politician doesn’t think he’s better than you, you’re stupid) yet the ones backing Obama want to think he’s just another man on the street who just happens to be running for President.

If we got down to ACTUAL issues in this race, and stopped slamming people because they are successful and have money, I think Obama would actually have to fight to win.

Yeah, I don’t want a politician that actually knows how to manage his money and make more. That would indicate he might be able to keep the American economy growing and, dear goodness, we can’t have that.
