Biased Moderator for VP Debate
We’re slowly approaching the Vice Presidential Debate between Joe Biden and Sarah Palin (if the McCain campaign decides to let her out of the cage)… and the moderator for tomorrows debate has been named, and is already raising eyebrows.

Gwen Ifil, managing editor and moderator for Washington Week and senior correspondent for The News Hour on PBS… but that’s not what has many Conservatives in a huff.
It seems that Gwen has a monetary stake in an Obama victory in November through a book she has written titled, “The Breaktrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama”. The book itself is not for sale yet, but Amazon.com is taking pre-orders and has this little bit tagged below the book info: This title will be released on January 20, 2009
Releasing a book about Obama ON Inauguration Day is a risky monetary proposition unless he is the man being sworn in. If McCain wins in November do you think her book will do anywhere NEAR as well as it would if Obama wins?
People can write books and publish their opinions all they want but if you stand to make a significant profit from the success of a specific political candidate you should not be moderating a process that SHOULD be unbiased.
Three words… Conflict Of Interest.

I’m sure that Gwen is not at all in the tank for Obama as she impartially moderates this debate this evening.
In similar impartial fashion I think that Sarah Palin ought to start off before answering Gwen’s first question tonight by saying, “Gwen, I’d like to congratulate you on your new book. I’m not going to ask you to stand, though.”

I don’t think I would be able to recover from the laughter that would ensue from a comment like that. That would be GOLD.
