I wouldn't mind serving if we could afford the time off. My wife works early mornings to late evening, leaving no one to take the kids to school or pick them up, unless she too takes off work. $20 a day is hardly compensation for two peoples lost wages.

I've done jury duty before and it's not too bad, the timing is just off on this one.

My dad served on a jury for several weeks awhile back. Said he enjoyed the experience quite a bit, so you never know.

It might not be so bad. You may get to contribute to putting a criminal in jail, or acquitting someone who doesn't deserve the charge they're facing!

There's nothing wrong with jury duty. I just went this past September. I was dismissed from on-call after the first day. Not sure what I said to be excused but I know I spoke truthfully. I wasn't even in the first 12 seats but in the runner up row. I was surprised when they excused some of the first runner up jurors and [just] me at the same time.

Last year I had duty for grand jury so I was on-call for a month but I was never summoned. It was a bit disappointing both times in regards to not being able to serve on the jury. I did at least get to go through the jury selection process once and that, at least, was a little bit educational.
