Ramos and Compean Free at Last

In a decision, that should have been a no brainer for ANYONE who has followed the pathetic incarceration of Border Patrol agents, President George Bush has commuted the sentences of Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean.

President Bush SHOULD have pardoned the two agents in my opinion but chose to validate their convictions and simply commute their sentences to time served and are expected to be released in the next month or two.

Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean were convicted of shooting Osvaldo Aldrete Davila in the ass as he fled across the US/Mexico border, away from his truckload of marijuana. Federal prosecutors located Davila in Mexico and brought him back into the US to testify (with FULL immunity) against the two Border Patrol agents. Ramos and Compean were charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, serious bodily injury, violation of civil rights and obstruction of justice (all but obstruction were upheld).

  • Sentences commuted? So the guy who sold presidential pardons to Marc Rich and a bunch of FALN terrorists will become our next Attorney General while two real American heroes won’t be able to work in law enforcement ever again. I thought George Bush had stones. I thought wrong.
