Apparently Al Franken is comfortable enough in his questionable 49 vote lead in the ongoing recount battle for Norm Coleman’s Senate seat, that there is an apparent attempt to fill the seat in the coming week, regardless of ongoing contested ballots in the Minnesota courts.

Senator John Cornyn has promised that he intends to filibuster any attempts to install Al Franken as Senator (even temporarily) without a certificate of election.

“This is a very, very serious matter. I can assure you that there will be no way that people on our side of the aisle will agree to seat any senator without a valid certificate. I think it is very clear that the people of Minnesota and the courts in Minnesota should make the decision about who won the Minnesota Senate election, and not political leaders in Washington, D.C. That process is ongoing and will not be resolved, in all likelihood, for weeks and maybe longer.”

I have to say I agree with him… seating a candidate without official declaration from the state is questionable at best. There are at the very least, 650 rejected ballots being questioned by Coleman’s legal team as well as more than 1,300 already contested absentee ballots. The election is not over so neither Coleman OR Franken should be seated, even IF it is temporary.

The Supreme Court today, decided not to hear a case in which soon to be President-Elect Barack Obama’s natural born citizenship has been called into question.

Certain people are calling into question Obama’s natural born citizenship by claiming the certificate of live birth he had up on his campaign website was a forgery, claiming he renounced his US Citizenship to attend school as an Indonesian citizen, even claiming he was born in Kenya or pretty much anything else you can come up with.

They’re not alone in this, as during the campaign the New York Times ran a hit piece on John McCain questioning his citizenship due to his birth in Panama. They later had to apologize for the article once proof was rendered.

Here is one VERY good reason why Obama WILL be the next President of the United States and everyone should get one with their lives. The court simply WILL NOT invalidate the votes of 66 Million voters. Period. Never going to happen in a million years unless there was a mountain of proof a mile high… which there isn’t.

To those of you who are spending every waking hour on this subject, put some clothes on, get your butt out of your chair and go get some fresh air. GET OVER IT.

I listen to several AM talk stations throughout the day and I’ve heard a lot of callers getting the boot from hosts for uttering the following line:

“I didn’t vote for Obama… He is NOT my President”

I have a short message to anyone who wants to throw a hissy fit for not getting the result they were hoping for from Tuesday’s election.

GROW UP

Every four years we hold an election to either re-elect our sitting President or vote in a new one… there is always a loser and we will never satisfy 100% of the citizens of this country but one thing always stays the same. No matter who we elect, they are to become the President of the United States of America. We don’t elect a President of the Democrats, or a President of the Republicans/Libertarians/Socialists.

We’ve had 8 years of “he’s not MY President from the left after Bush was elected and re-elected, why must we carry that torch through another term. Bitching and moaning about something like this does nothing to advance our country it just drags us through the mud and increases hostilities between the parties.

You do not have to buy into the political platform of the figurehead of this country but the office deserves respect no matter who is holding the title.

I will respect the President of the United States and he will be getting plenty of correspondence from me. I urge everyone out there to do the same. The least you can do is let it be known where YOU stand on the issues. Contact your Senators and State Representatives as well. You never know when your words might make a difference.

It was clear last night, fairly early on, that Barrack Obama would become the 44th President of this great country. There is nothing to be argued here, the people spoke and the election is over.

Say what you will about possible double votes etc, in the states that counted there was a large enough victory by the Obama campaign that there is no point in digging into the details as it would have no difference in the final counts. The nation wanted change and that will be what they get.

I would like to congratulate President-Elect Barrack Obama on a well run campaign, the man was made of Teflon and had the finances to buy a small country… and with that it was a battle to try and stop him.

That being said I would like to move on to comments from people I know and people I have seen on TV. I’ve heard a repeated mantra over the past hours and it goes a little something like this:

“It can’t get any worse than it is right now”

We are one negative financial quarter away from an official recession, we have congressmen who are drooling over the prospects of repressing free speech in this country, we still have enemies in this world that wish the very country we live in wiped from the map… my friends, it can get MUCH worse than it is right now.

Another comment I keep hearing is that Obama will be a moderate President and I just have to ask, when… in the history of this nation has a President taken office and made a radical shift in their political values? There are numerous rankings out there that place Obama amongst the most liberal in Washington. What makes you think that those core values will suddenly change when he is sworn into office?

I am cautiously optimistic that the experience and access to more information will allow President-Elect Obama the ability to see beyond his politics and do what is best for this country and only time will tell at this point, but I hope for all of us that this election was not a huge mistake.

A closing note to all Conservatives out there reading this. You may be feeling slighted and torn down but please, do not stoop to name calling or fighting with people… it makes you look stupid and it only ads to the troubles we as a party are facing. Direct your energy towards rebuilding the values we have strayed from and strengthening the Conservative base. We have 4 years until we get to have another shot at the Presidency.

I will always respect the office of President of the United States… but it does not mean I have to agree with the decisions made by the person holding that title.

— I received some emails asking for county maps from the election so here is last night vs. 2004

I had decided in 2001 when McCain-Feingold was passed, and again during the illegal alien amnesty debacle in 2007 that I would never vote for John McCain. Because of my support for the FairTax, opposition to abortion, opposition to amnesty, and many other issues, I supported Mike Huckabee in the primary.

But because of his current opponent, I was all set to hold my nose and vote for Senator McCain just to vote against Senator Obama, and I was happily going to vote for John Cornyn for Senator from Texas.

Then came the bailout, and I made a conscious decision not to vote for anyone that supported it.

I voted early last Sunday, and because of the many liberal views of Senator McCain, the myriad Marxist tendencies of Senator Obama, my steadfast support for the FairTax, and my disgust at the bailout, at the last minute I decided to write Mike Huckabee in for President.

This being the third Presidential vote of my lifetime (I was only 16 in 1996, but supported Ross Perot), it is the first time I have not voted for the Republican candidate. Due to Senator Cornyn’s vote for the bailout, this is also the first time I’ve not voted for the Republican candidate for Senate in Texas (I voted for the Libertarian).

I am highly disappointed with what the Republican party has become – a soft version of the Democrats, constantly trying to catch up to the social programs that the Democrats offer… only slightly differently so as to appear more “conservative.” Both are guilty of rampant socialism.

I cannot in good conscience grant my one vote to a party that doubled the size of government in six years after promising to shrink it; nor can I support a party like the Democrats that promises to redistribute the wealth that was hard earned by our wealthy neighbors to people that have not worked for it in a modern-day form of Marxism, legalize all forms of abortion, give citizenship to the millions of illegal aliens now draining our national resources, or threatens to silence any voice on the right that does not agree with them.

This government needs a serious overhaul, and people need to have their liberty back.

Since this post was written by Casey and I was going to write a post on my vote I’ll just add to this one below.

We did not have any place to write in a candidate on our ballot, I’m not sure if Oklahoma allows it so I had two choices this morning. I hate that our political process has come down to this but I voted for the least worthless person running for office, John McCain. I do not feel EITHER candidate deserves the title of President but one of these two men will become that man, like it or not.

I too am disappointed with the direction that the Republican party has taken us, and as a conservative I felt betrayed enough to remove myself from their rolls 2 years ago. I can only hope that conservatives will get pissed off enough to take back their party… as much as I hope that true Democrats will take back theirs. Both parties have been taken over by the extreme wings of the party and it’s time for it to end.

I held my nose and I hope the outcome is as I want it to be in the end… if not, we have one hell of a fight on our hands for the next 4 years under Obama.

At a recent campaign rally, Democrat VP Candidate Joe Biden let loose with a very vague comment about Obama and the coming test he will face.

“Mark my words… It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We’re about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don’t remember anything else I said. Watch, we’re gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy.

I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate and he’s gonna need help. And the kind of help he’s gonna need is, he’s gonna need you – not financially to help him – we’re gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because it’s not gonna be apparent initially, it’s not gonna be apparent that we’re right.

I’ve forgotten more about foreign policy than most of my colleagues know, so I’m not being falsely humble with you. I think I can be value added, but this guy has it. This guy has it. But he’s gonna need your help. Because I promise you, you all are gonna be sitting here a year from now going, ‘Oh my God, why are they there in the polls? Why is the polling so down? Why is this thing so tough?‘ We’re gonna have to make some incredibly tough decisions in the first two years. So I’m asking you now, I’m asking you now, be prepared to stick with us. Remember the faith you had at this point because you’re going to have to reinforce us.”

Now normally, if you’re going to make a bold, sweeping statement such as this, you are normally going to have to go into detail about what you were saying at some point soon after such a statement was made. After all… you don’t want imaginations to run wild and cause damage to your run. Problem is… so far no one has asked him to elaborate and boy are the gears turning.

If you put Biden’s comment side by side with a comment made by his running mate at the ServiceNation presidential forum at Columbia University in New York City and they could be very well speaking of eliminating the volunteer service program in this country.

“My grandfather, after Pearl Harbor, joined the military. My grandmother, who had just had a baby at Fort Leavenworth, stayed back and worked on a bomber assembly line. There was a total mobilization.

And when my grandfather came back, he came back to a G.I. bill that was going to pay for his college education and FHA loans that would help them purchase a home. There was that sense of sacred obligation that, frankly, we have lost during these last two wars.

I want to restore that.

But it’s also important that a president speaks to military service as an obligation not just of some, but of many. You know, I traveled, obviously, a lot over the last 19 months. And if you go to small towns, throughout the Midwest or the Southwest or the South, every town has tons of young people who are serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. That’s not always the case in other parts of the country, in more urban centers. And I think it’s important for the president to say, this is an important obligation. If we are going into war, then all of us go, not just some.”

I’m not saying that is what they mean, but it does paint a very REAL scenario since they aren’t being forthcoming with the details behind Joe’s “humble” moment.

Obama is campaigning as an agent of change, an anti-war candidate wanting to bring us all home and cower in the corner while he runs out to discuss our differences with people hell bent on our annihilation.

If he IS hinting at a draft or obligated military service, may I mention that while his grandfather was a service member during WWII, he was not FORCED to serve his country. You CANNOT make a man die for a country he would not volunteer his life for. I would love for someone to explain to me what Obama plans on changing in this country that would make Americans step up as they did in his grandfathers day.

I would also LOVE a detailed explanation from Biden as to what this generated crisis will be.
