Can we drill your BRAINS!?

Speaking outside at the Democratic National Convention (her first mistake) Speaker Nancy Pelosi was interrupted by chants of “Drill here! Drill now!” from protesters.

Rather than ignore them like she does everyone else she supposedly represents, Pelosi stopped, and responded with “Right HERE?” then reverting to playground style debate, came back with “Can we drill your brains?”

She keeps ignoring the issue, hoping that switching to recycled paper straws and “green” foods will help solve the energy issue… all the while spouting “but it would take a decade to reap any benefit from domestic drilling!”

Those 10 years are going to happen if we drill or not… had we been allowed to drill on our own shores during the Clinton years (gracefully blocked by Bill himself) we wouldn’t have to be wondering IF anything would come of off shore drilling.

I have heard plenty of people dismiss domestic drilling for any number of reasons but honestly… what would it hurt? Why NOT bolster our oil supply with domestic drilling while we’re developing these alternative energy methods?

The Biden Oddity

I was not shocked at all, in fact I called the Biden VP pick about 2 months ago in a discussion with my wife. It is VERY clear that Obama is aware he is severely lacking in foreign policy experience and is using Biden to fill the voids for the weary voters.

Obama has been slamming McCain for a while now for having TOO much experience, for being a product of Washington. He has “too much” experience and has been in the game too long to bring about the “change” and “hope” that Obama is promising us. My question to Obama is, if McCain has been in Washington too long and has been corrupted by the machine… how is Biden any different? Biden has been a US Senator for 35 years… McCain has been a US Senator for 21. Seems to me, if the longer your career in D.C. the more corrupt you become, then McCain is not as damaged as Biden. (The only reason I present that argument is because it mirrors the logic behind Obama’s arguments against McCain.)

Loose lips sink ships… and judging by Sen. Joe Biden’s pile of off color comments and other self inflating comments, to me it seems odd that Obama, who prides himself on his controlled campaign strategy, would pick suck a self loving wild card.

McCain’s “house” problem?

Obama has gotten desperate… how can we tell? His campaign is slamming McCain for owning multiple homes.

John McCain apparently owns seven properties, worth approximately seventeen million dollars. Since none of these are in foreclosure this apparently disqualifies McCain for the White House.

Somehow, a wealthy politician is HUGE news to the Democrats and they are running all over the country now filming their opinions on McCain’s home ownership in front of foreclosure signs etc as if to show that McCain can’t run the country because he’s not hit by the house crunch.

Comparing and contrasting a wealthy politician to Joe Factory Worker and his over extended mortgage is beyond pathetic. If being a wealthy politician that owns a handful of homes and other realty makes you unfit to lead, then I have news for Presidential hopefuls out there. YOU LOSE.

I hope Obama doesn’t want his realty dealings with Rezko brought up… but then again. He opened that can of worms himself.

Really… if electing a President comes down to something as petty and childish as this, we’re BEYOND screwed.

Obama on abortion… duck and run

During his half of the forum with Rick Warren this past weekend, Obama was asked at what point “human rights” apply to a baby. Rather than taking the obviously hot button question to task, Obama took his usual path and evaded having a position.

His answer went like this:

…whether you’re looking at it from a theological perspective or a scientific perspective, answering that question with specificity … is above my pay grade.”

For the record, John McCain directly answered the question by stating that human rights begin at conception.

I’m not going to get into the overwhelming debate on abortion… I would have to say it’s one of THE topics that you just can’t argue on as NO ONE is willing to discuss it in a civil tone. The point was that these two candidates proclaimed that they were holding this forum to win over the “faith voters”.

Correct me if I’m wrong but taking a cop out answer about how the abortion debate is ABOVE your pay grade is NOT the prime way to win over the hearts of the “faith voters”.

…and they wonder why we see him as a smug, elitist egomaniac?

Americans confused about freedom of speech

Riding on a wave of “change” Democrats have been salivating at the chance they may have in the near future of reviving the ironically named “fairness doctrine” to shut down the unfair success of conservative talk radio. Regardless of what they think or say about the FD it is not about Fairness, it’s about forced equality and suppression of free speech.

Rassmussen Polling decided to see how American’s felt about the “fairness doctrine”.

47% of those polled felt the government needed to control political messages on radio and TV by forcing equal time for both liberal and conservative messages. Oddly enough, 71% of those polled said that they can already find any political view on radio and TV today.

57% said that the “fairness doctrine” should not apply to websites and blogs.

So let me get this straight… almost half of us feel that the government needs to control the message, but almost two-thirds of us have no problem finding access to a message that suits our political leanings?

If you have access to a message that suits you, why should the government impede the free speech of someone who’s message you don’t agree with? Welcome to the other half of the 1st Amendment. YES you have the freedom to speak your mind and have your own opinions, BUT I don’t have to listen to you, you can also completely disagree with MY opinions but no one is making you listen to them either.

When you have Congressmen labeling your push to crush Conservative Talk Radio the “Hush Rush Bill” and you smile and laugh in acceptance of the label, your goals are clear as the air you’re breathing.

Talk radio is successful, not because it’s being shoved down our throats, but because people are VOLUNTARILY tuning in. If we woke up tomorrow and everyone in America decided that AM Radio was bunk, the Democrats problem would be solved. This isn’t going to happen so the only solution is to forcefully end their career by deeming their message “unfair”.

There is however a confusing result of those polls was that almost half want the government to control radio and TV, but more than half want to leave blogs and websites out of the loop? Could it be that the folks listening to the radio make up merely 17% of the US population while those who read blogs and political websites make up a larger percentage of the US population? God forbid anyone mess with their precious internet! It’s pretty easy to attack talk radio when over 80% of Americans don’t listen to it.
